Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, emphasizes the need to empower girls through quality education on National Girl Child Day.

The initiative focuses on addressing the challenges that girls face due to gender biases and promoting awareness of their rights, education, health, and nutrition.

Before the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, girls in Jammu and Kashmir faced hardships and difficulties due to terrorism and societal pressure.

Since the abrogation, the government has provided multiple opportunities for women to build their lives and compete with men in every field.

Government schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Ladli Beti aim to protect girls from a young age and empower them to contribute to nation-building.

Exempting tuition fees for girl students up to 12th standard in government schools has benefitted over 5.5 lakh girls.

The Super-75 scholarship scheme has helped young women reach professional colleges on the basis of merit and chase their dreams.

The government has also put in dedicated efforts to end the disparity between men and women in the Union Territory, with positive results.
