Solution:

(a) Given that numerator = 9

So, the equivalent fraction is [latex]\frac { 9 }{ 12 }[/latex].

(b) Given that denominator = 4

∴ [latex]\frac { N }{ 4 }[/latex] = [latex]\frac { 36 }{ 48 }[/latex] ⇒ N x 48 = 4 x 36

Check whether the given fractions are equivalent:

We have 5 x 54 = 270

and 9 x 30 = 270

Here 5 x 54 = 9 x 30

∴ [latex]\frac { 5 }{ 9 }[/latex] and [latex]\frac { 30 }{ 54 }[/latex] are equivalent fractions.

(b) [latex]\frac { 3 }{ 10 }[/latex] and [latex]\frac { 12 }{ 50 }[/latex]

We have 3 x 50 = 150

and 10 x 12 = 120

Here 3 x 50 ≠ 10 x 12

(c) [latex]\frac { 7 }{ 13 }[/latex] and [latex]\frac { 5 }{ 11 }[/latex]

We have 7 x 11 = 77 and 5 x 13 = 65

Here 7 x 11 ≠ 5 x 13
